Institutional Product & Investment Communications Within AMG, Institutional Product & Investment Communications (IPIC) is critical to the firm’s global institutional distribution efforts. The team takes a leading role in strategically positioning investment products within the global institutional client channels.
IPIC is a team of strategists with product knowledge, communications and technological expertise, and effective business partnerships. They aim to grow BlackRock’s institutional business by developing content for product messaging and literature, investment communications, and technological solutions that uniquely position BlackRock’s products and services.
IPIC team members work with investment and client areas throughout the firm and partner with both US and International business and sales management in developing and implementing strategy. They serve as thought leaders in the development and production of special reports, market commentary, and white papers for institutional clients. Additionally, IPIC is responsible for positioning new products, developing marketing campaigns, and championing new business opportunities.
Position Description Institutional Product & Investment Communications is looking for an experienced strategic product marketing professional to join the team as an Associate. This individual will participate in all aspects of marketing, from strategic product positioning to producing thought leadership pieces and creating new product-related materials across all asset classes.
This position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, creative problem solving, and an equal mix of quantitative and qualitative skills. As Associates, candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and seek exposure to many teams within BlackRock, including regular interaction with executive management, portfolio managers, relationship managers, and product specialists.
This role has a great deal of autonomy and individuals are encouraged to take ownership of their work, develop new ideas, and come up with creative solutions. Overall, the IPIC team is one of the greatest growth opportunities for the firm and this position offers a unique opportunity to enhance the industry’s largest publicly-traded asset management platform.
Responsibilities
· Develop marketing strategies and tactics from a global perspective to drive net sales of the firm’s core institutional products.
· Work closely with portfolio managers and other teams within the firm to create relevant, differentiated product collateral that best positions BlackRock among its institutional clients and attracts new business. This includes building an in-depth understanding of new and existing investment strategies in order to develop content for new products as well as revising and updating marketing materials for current products (presentation slides, product sheets, product updates, RFIs, fee schedules, etc.)
· Educate relationship managers on the firm’s broad product platform and create messages and materials to help account teams identify new opportunities and defend the firm’s current asset base.
· Act as a project lead with other marketing and product teams, product specialists, and investment teams to improve product communications and maintain consistency on a global scale.
· Package and deliver in-depth product analysis, provide thought leadership, and participate in the management of proprietary technology information tools. Administer training and provide reference materials to ensure the consistent use of these information sources throughout the firm.
Qualifications
· Ideal candidates will have at least 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry. The most suitable candidates will have investment-related experience within the institutional client channel or with an investment consulting firm. (Relevant experience may include investment management, product management, Institutional asset management marketing, RFP writing, investor communications, and institutional investment consulting.)
· Must be a self-starter with high initiative and demonstrate resourcefulness.
· A deep knowledge of investment management products is important, particularly experience across fixed income, equity, and alternative investment products, rather than a single asset class.
· Must be able to take complex concepts and communicate them through a variety of marketing outlets.
· Individuals should be flexible and open to different ideas and working styles, and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
· Must demonstrate an ability to successfully work in a changing market environment and manage multiple projects with various deadlines.
· Individuals must have the confidence and poise to interact with individuals at a very senior level.
· This position requires an individual with outstanding written communication skills and excellent presentation skills. Experience with or interest in training is a plus.
