Front office, sat with the traders. Close interaction with analysts across all desks will ensure that the impact of power markets across the EU, the developments in the oil, coal and gas markets, and the global carbon markets are assessed with regards to their impact on EUA price movements. The new position will therefore require a sound understanding of the interactions across the energy complex. The analyst is expected to develop a set of models that enables the desk to quickly assess the impact of news items, to run scenarios on changes in the price relation of primary fuels, assess new regulatory proposals and other developments in international carbon markets. The analyst must be able to extract valuable information from a vast set of inputs and form a cohesive view on the market. The results of this work will directly feed into the formulation of proprietary trading strategies that are run by the carbon and power desks. Personal Specification - Some exposure to European Power and Gas is essential for the successful candidate. Please do not apply unless you meet this criteria The successful candidate will have: • An education to a minimum of degree level • Operated within the energy industry (trading house, energy consultancy firm, energy company or investment bank) previously. • Proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of relational database concepts • Strong analytical skills demonstrated through career history to date • Attention to detail skills • Excellent team working capability and interpersonal communication skills • Innovative, open-minded and proactive to provide new solutions • A second European language would be an advantage but not necessarily essential Commodity, commodities, eua, cer, kyoto, carbon, utility, power gas coal oil
