Analyst needed for an excellent opportunity with my client's risk arbitrage strategy. The principle responsibility of the analyst is to provide fundamental input for a merger and event-driven arbitrage portfolio. The analyst should be skilled in assessing companies both on a quantitative and qualitative basis.
Candidates should have two to five years experience in risk arbitrage, with strong research skills as well as good industry contacts. The research process includes detailed financial modeling using Excel and valuation work in addition to regular interaction with management teams and industry sources. The analyst will be expected to contribute to the investment process immediately. A long held passion for investing and the ability to communicate ideas and information effectively is critical. Candidates must have a strong academic record with an undergraduate degree and at least two years experience with a top tier financial firm involving equity research, M&A and/or private equity.
Assist risk arbitrage team with general equity analysis, comparative transaction analysis, market competition and regulatory risk assessment.
Monitor existing and potential positions, consensus opinions regarding those positions, and changes in investor sentiment.
Effectively communicate opinions, new information and market development to portfolio managers and analysts.
Provide research support for convertible arbitrage and relative value arbitrage in situations involving risk arbitrage names.
