Team Overview:

Within Infrastructure, the Central Pricing Unit (CPU) is part of Data Services UK. The CPU is primarily responsible for the validation and enrichment of market price and income data feeds. The CPU ensures the quality of data facilitates accurate client valuations and decision support. Our primary clients are fund accounting / performance and the decision support teams.

Central Pricing Specialist

Job Summary:

To maintain and support the integrity and timeliness of pricing, income and FX data used within Schroders portfolio and Fund Management systems. Working in a team of four the jobholder will be expected to work to a defined set of procedures and deadlines as needed to meet the requirements of the business, for accurate Client Reporting and Fund Manager Decision Support Systems.


Key Responsibilities:

The Pricing analyst will be responsible for ensuring the timeliness and quality of pricing data across the Schroder IT platforms:
• Scrutiny of daily tolerance reports by exception, for both Prices and income data
• Price variances are checked using the Bloomberg data license, with a more detailed investigation occurring where appropriate(>10%), by administrator research of Bloomberg, Reuters, FT Interactive Data, Financial Times, Daily Official list or phone calls to external brokers or companies
• Exception reports are run for forecast dividends, and accrual events
• Obscure bond pricing research via lead brokers
• Missing Prices / Missing Income data: Daily populations of known securities that either, do not price automatically, or whose price we consider unsuitable. i.e. Property funds, ABS/MBS, Thai Securities and zero strike call warrants
• Ensuring accurate and correct use of prices from third party administrators for the Schroders fund ranges, SIL AUT’s, Lux SICAV, PFPV’s and Guernsey based funds
• Additional checks are performed, to facilitate valuation production: FTSE 100 yields, FTSE All-Share prices
• Provision of support for projects and initiatives impacting or impacted by pricing data

Additionally:
• The increasing use of derivative instruments will continue to enlarge the scope of this role.
• The implementation of a bespoke pricing system will create further opportunities for individuals to develop their skills within the team.


Experience and Skills:

• Ability to work well in a team
• Capability to become subject matter expert
• Ability to prioritise and willing to work flexible hours when necessary
• Ideally a minimum 2 to 3 years experience gained in a similar or related role
• Good knowledge of Fixed Income/Equity and Derivative pricing
• Numerate and accurate
• Must have excellent attention to detail
• Familiar with use of Bloomberg / Reuters / FTS online
• Excellent PC skills, particularly Excel to an advanced level for various formulae and Macro writing
• Experience of working on projects with a substantial data component
• Experience in direct interaction with business users in defining, analysing and agreeing policy and process with respect to data maintenance in pricing and other data areas
• Motivated to proactively contribute to managing change
