Senior Internal Auditor The candidate should possess: • An ability to work unsupervised. • Knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits. • An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports. • An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit and also to legislation changes and developments as they affect financial institutions and law firms. • High standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgment, independence and discretion. Duties and responsibilities The senior internal auditor will be responsible for global internal audit function. He or she will be required to plan and coordinate the internal audit itinerary for the entire group and to carry out the internal audit function including the preparation of an audit plan which will permit the review and appraisal of the effectiveness of the Group's internal controls, policies and procedures. Specifically, he or she will be required to: • Evaluate and examine the Group's policies and procedures. • Review compliance with policies and procedures and local regulations. • Conduct any reviews or tasks requested by the board of directors, provided such reviews and tasks do not compromise the independence or objectivity of the internal audit function. • Report results and make recommendations to the board of directors on identification of weaknesses in internal controls, policies and procedures. • Follow up on the progress of implementation of recommendations. • Provide management and the board of directors with an opinion on the internal controls. • Participate in the process of internal control improvement initiatives. • Incorporate training and continuous improvement in order to ensure that all staff are aware of the Group's policies and procedures. • Be responsible for the coordination of the SAS70 Type II audit engagement. The successful candidate must be willing to travel and able to relocate on a secondment basis to other Maples Finance offices at short notice.
