As the Fund Controller for a global Real Estate Investment firm in Luxembourg, you will be responsible for the accounting records and administrative matters of the Fund(s). The successful candidate will have experience in reporting and consolidation under IFRS.

As a Fund Controller for a Global Real Estate Investment firm, you will ensure the correctness and completeness of financial, tax and regulatory reporting; management of the acquisition and disposition process for Fund investments; management of the Fund(s) liquidity needs; management and supervision of the Fund accounting team to deliver the above functions, including recruiting and developing the team.

The successful candidate will have experience in reporting and consolidation under IFRS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting:

  • To implement appropriate accounting policies as directed by Fund Controller
  • To advise the accounting team and company’s teams on specific accounting treatments as required
  • To ensure that appropriate accounting treatment papers are prepared and filed
  • To manage reporting relationships with company’s offices and/or third party service providers
  • To review and comment upon the Fund’s consolidated financial statements and any other financial or tax reports and budgets generated by the Fund accounting team
  • To ensure that the accounting and tax reporting time tables agreed with investors, banks and other stake holders are respected
  • To review and comment upon regular updates to structure charts

Regulatory / Legal / Audits:

  • To deal expeditiously with any requests from the regulatory authority (if regulated) that governs the Fund, including lawyers acting on behalf of the regulator and Fund, auditors or other firms
  • To ensure that all regulatory / statutory reporting is completed, reviewed and filed on time
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external and internal auditors
  • To manage external audit process to satisfactory conclusion
  • To review and understand the governing documents of the Fund
  • To provide the accounting team with clear direction regarding accounting for the Fund and its entities

Acquisitions / Dispositions:

  • To liaise with the Fund Controller and acquisition teams on acquisitions and disposals of investments
  • To liaise with the legal department regarding creating tier entities required for investments
  • To liaise with the tax department regarding financing instruments and structure
  • To review and understand accounting, tax and reporting implications of contracts and other legal documents generated by the acquisition, disposal and investment process
  • To provide the Fund accounting team with clear direction over the accounting for acquisitions and Disposals

Treasury:

  • To manage the preparation of and review regular liquidity forecasts
  • To manage the preparation and execution of all intra-group financing documents required complying with tax or other advice received
  • To manage the draw down and/or repayment process of Fund level borrowings
  • To prepare distribution calculations to investors
  • To manage the process of calling capital from investors

Management and Supervision:

  • To manage and supervise the Fund accounting team and provide direction as required
  • To manage the charts of account of the accounting and consolidation systems
  • To understand and organize training and development needs
  • To ensure adherence to all internal policies and procedures
  •  

SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and one other European language
  • Ability to understand complex financial and corporate structures
  • Ability to meet deadlines and continually reassess priorities for the Fund accounting team Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Advance knowledge of Excel and general accounting programs 

WORK EXPERIENCE

A minimum of six years experience working in an international accounting environment either in public practice or industry

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

ACCA, CPA or equivalent with a minimum 6 years post qualification experience

Bachelor’s degree
